Physical sciences

Dr hab. Angelika Baranowska-Łączkowska, University Professor

  • Quantum-mechanical calculations of electrical and optical properties of atoms and molecules.
  • Studies of selected properties of molecules of potential pharmacological importance.

Dr hab. Paweł Szroeder, University Professor

  • Phenomena at the interface between low-dimensional solids and electrolytes.
  • Charge doping of low-dimensional materials – impact on electronic and magnetic properties.

Dr hab. Tomasz Weselak, University Professor

  • Physics and spectroscopy of the interstellar medium (ISM), in particular:
    • determination of physical conditions in the interstellar medium (ISM) and interstellar clouds;
    • spectroscopy of interstellar clouds – spectra of atoms, simple molecules and Diffuse Interstellar Bands (DIBs);
    • determination of relationships between abundances of simple molecules and atoms in the interstellar clouds;
    • studies of interstellar extinction and dust in cloud environments and their possible influence on the formation of DIBs;
    • simple and advanced models of interstellar clouds and comparison of models with observational results (i.e. from spectroscopy).

Prof. dr hab. Yuriy Zorenko

  • Luminescent materials, study of the effect of defects and dopants on their optical properties.
  • Technology for the production of crystals, monocrystalline layers , micro and nano powders.
  • Conventional and advanced optical spectroscopy, including synchrotron radiation excitation.
  • Novel dosimetric materials and methods for measuring the homogeneity of X-ray and γ-ray doses in radiotherapy.
  • Development of materials and methods for real-time measurement of ionizing radiation doses in brachytherapy and teleradiotherapy.
