Regulations concerning the legality of employment and doctoral schools

A foreigner who is entitled to stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland on the basis referred to in paragraph 3, or under the visa-free regime, may work without a work permit or a declaration of entrusting work to a foreigner, if:

  1. they are a graduate of studies referred to in Article 77(1) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, items 1571, 1871, and 1897, and of 2025, items 619 and 620), and have completed their studies at a higher education institution based in the territory of the Republic of Poland; or

  2. they hold a doctoral degree awarded by an entity authorized to confer such a degree operating within the Polish higher education and science system; or

  3. they are a doctoral candidate at a doctoral school run by an entity based in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
