scholarship for a PhD candidate – PLN 5,000 gross per month (up to the month in which the mid-term evaluation of the PhD candidate at the doctoral school was carried out),
PLN 6,000 gross per month (after the month in which the mid-term evaluation of the PhD candidate at the doctoral school was carried out).

Project description: The object of research is the Mackenzie River Delta. The project plans to examine lakes in the Mackenzie Delta in Arctic Canada, which receive river sediments when flood water levels rise above natural embankments in spring. The aim of the project is to understand the conditions of sediment accumulation in the lakes of Arctic river deltas in order to assess their impact on the overall balance of sediment transport within the delta. This goal will be achieved by developing a sediment transport model based on the theory of settling basins while incorporating the Gamma distribution law. A series of field observations and a stay at the Western Arctic Research Center in Inuvik, Canada, were planned.

A person who does not have a doctoral degree and is not a participant of a doctoral school may participate in the competition.

The committee evaluates candidates on a point scale, taking into account competences to carry out specific tasks in the research project and the candidate's scientific achievements to date, and on this basis prepares a ranking of candidates according to the following criteria:

competences to carry out specific tasks in the research project (70% of the final grade):

  • 3 points very good;
  • 2 points good;
  • 1 point weak;
  • 0 points lack of competence.

candidate's scientific achievements, including publications in renowned publishing houses/scientific journals (30% of the final grade):

  • 4 outstanding points;
  • 3 points very good;
  • 2 points good;
  • 1 point weak;
  • 0 points no scientific achievements.
